I decided Tuesday would be modern day Warsaw and I would buy a CityPass for Wednesday for the more expensive items and then close out the week with museums on Thursday. As with all travel, it’s great to plan but also plan to fail….
I am not a shopper but I have a fascination with both grocery stores and malls when I am in other countries. The malls always ground me because they are pretty much the same setup everywhere: a food court with hit or miss food, clothes I would never buy and kiosks galore, including a rather large kiosk for novelty socks, yes I’m thinking of you Nieves!

The Westfield Arkadia mall did not disappoint. It was easily the size of two regular malls in Seattle and included a MASSIVE Carrefour grocery store (similar to a Walmart Supercenter), a huge food court, a movie theater and various stores and restaurants around the outside.

In the food court, I walked by Burger King and KFC and landed on a very Polish stall called Wikking. It offered a variety of mystery meat wrapped in dough, deep fried or sauced generously along with some single veggie salads. I know this picture looks very beige and I had to get the child’s portion when I learned that the serving was six dumplings but it was absolutely delicious. I’m going to guess the filling was a combination of chicken and pork, it had a shell similar to a pierogi and was served with a light sour cream dill sauce peppered with caper juice but not the berries.
The white salad I assumed was coleslaw was a light, very slightly sweet version that was half gherkin and half cabbage, absolutely delicious and only about $5 USD.
I would love to taste the meat. The salad not so much…
